The skills challenge is being conducted with the South Carolina Football Coaches Association and will feature the top players from the Class of 2023. It will be held in conjunction with the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl game, which will be played the following day on the same field. This is an invitation-only event that will be comprised of an electronically timed 40-yard dash, timed three-cone drill and shuttle run, vertical jump, broad jump and bench press.
Honors for fastest and strongest players, as well as overall combine MVP and the Joanne Langfitt Award will be presented following the conclusion of the event. Each participant will be provided special-guest access to the North-South Bowl Senior Game.
Smalls and DePass are key contributors to an outstanding defense that has helped Beaufort High to a 5-1 start in search of its third consecutive Region 7-4A title. Smalls has racked up 33 tackles, including 11 tackles for loss, and a pair of sacks on the defensive line, and DePass leads the Eagles’ secondary with six pass breakups to go along with 17 tackles and a tackle for loss. Fields is one of the Eagles’ top receiving threats and has six grabs for 204 yards and two TDs in just four games this season.

Linder is coming off a monster game in which he caught three touchdown passes against Colleton County and leads the Bobcats in receptions (16) and receiving yards (306), while Simmons has been a versatile weapon for Bluffton as a running back, receiver, and dynamic kick returner. The track star has receiving and kick return touchdowns this season.
The initial invitees were selected by an anonymous committee of coaches and media members around the Palmetto State and were chosen regardless of position. The list includes representatives from 57 different schools. It includes the following positional breakdowns: 20 offensive linemen; 14 athletes; 10 running backs; nine defensive backs; nine linebackers; eight quarterbacks; eight receivers; seven defensive linemen; and three tight ends.
Any potential holes left by players unable to participate will be filled prior to December 10.
