Hilton Head High girls tennis avenged an earlier loss and earned a season split with cross-island rival Hilton Head Prep with a 5-4 home victory Monday.
The teams split the six singles courts, with No. 1 Emily Ruckno, No. 2 Hailey Poplin, and No. 5 Kourtny Kosto all earning wins for the Seahawks while Maria Herrmann, Emma Moore, and Carly Dowe earned points for the Dolphins.
With the match tied heading to doubles, the Seahawks took two of the three doubles courts to clinch the win, with Poplin and Danielle Silvan teaming up to win at No. 2 and Kosto and Lilly Friday pulling out a tough win at No. 3.
Both teams are back in action Tuesday, with the Seahawks (6-4) hosting Bluffton for a region match while HHP (10-1) hosts rival Hilton Head Christian Academy.
