May River volleyball picked up to two more impressive victories Thursday, sweeping host Hilton Head Christian Academy and grinding out a three-set win over Savannah Christian.
The Sharks started the night with a 25-16, 25-18 win over HHCA, then rallied after dropping the first set to beat the Raiders 25-27, 25-15, 15-9.

Lillian Long had 19 kills and five aces in the two matches to lead May River, while Brigit Hegan added 14 kills. Sophomore Mallory Gilmore contributed 10 kills, and Gabby Boegel had a huge night distributing the ball, finishing with a whopping 50 assists. The Sharks’ strong defense was led by Corrie Velder, Emma Puplava, and Laina Poppy.
The Eagles bounced back to beat Savannah Christian in three sets.
May River (4-0) is back in action Thursday with a home match against region rival Lucy Beckham. HHCA (4-1) hosts Colleton Prep on Monday.
