Reagan Marchant launched two home runs, Leah Jackson put together a stellar four-RBI day at the plate, and Hilton Head High softball closed its season Tuesday with a 16-11 road victory over Battery Creek.
The Seahawks led 6-5 after two innings in the slugfest and blew it open in the third with a seven-run frame highlighted by a Jackson single and Lynda Young double. The Dolphins got one back in the fourth with a clutch two-out line-drive double by Brooke Crosby, but Hilton Head restored the eight-run lead on a Zoey Jackson bases-loaded walk in the sixth.
After the Dolphins scored two in the bottom half, Marchant belted her second home run of the contest to make it a 16-8 ballgame going into the home half of the seventh. Battery Creek fought hard in its final three outs, scoring three runs capped off by a Crosby triple before a groundout ended the Dolphin rally.
Marchant punctuated her sensational season with another fantastic performance, going 2-for-4 with a pair of homers, a walk, and three RBIs. Jackson was 3-for-6 while driving in four runs, and both Alexandra Fisher and Jayden Lopko picked up two hits each. Delcie Swift notched the win in the circle, pitching all seven innings and recording eight strikeouts. Crosby delivered a spectacular game for Battery Creek, going 4-for-4 with a double, triple, walk, and three RBIs.
Hilton Head High (4-15) and Battery Creek (5-12) have concluded their seasons.
