The left-hander Stokes, who committed to play at USCB this week, struck out five and walked two over three innings of one-hit ball, and Roemer took it from there, allowing one hit and one walk over two innings with two strikeouts before the game was cut short by rain.

Layman was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs from the leadoff spot, and Horn went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the two-hole. Zack Morillo added an RBI double, Stokes doubled and scored twice, and Cole Boyles and Erik Catanzaro each had a hit and an RBI for May River.

The Sharks (14-6) have earned an at-large bid to the Class 4A playoffs and will travel to Region 6-4A champion South Florence to open the double-elimination district tournament at 1 p.m. Saturday. May River will face either North Augusta or Beaufort High in its second game Monday.
