HS BTEN: Dominant Eagles sweep into Lower State finals

Beaufort High’s boys tennis team continued its dominant run through the Class 4A competition with a 6-0 win over visiting North Myrtle Beach on Thursday in the second round of the playoffs.

The Chiefs showed early signs of fight, but the Eagles wore them down to claim all six courts in straight sets.

Graeme Angus and Tucker Martin dropped just two games each in the top two singles positions, and Diego Alvarez, Bodie Daniel, and Griffin Stone held off minor challenges to win in two sets.

Joseph Combs and Witt Compton had little trouble finished off their doubles opponents to clinch the sweep.

The Eagles (14-2) remain undefeated against Class 4A opponents — their only two losses came against SCISA 3A champion Hilton Head Prep. They’ll try to preserve that perfect mark in a tough home match against Myrtle Beach on Tuesday with a spot in the state championship match on the line.
