May River boys soccer was in control from the start Thursday at Beaufort High, closing out the regular season with a 6-1 road win over the Eagles.
Renty Kitty opened the scoring in the second minute for the ninth-ranked Sharks, but the Eagles quickly answered with the equalizer five minutes later.
The Sharks took control from there, as Colton Beine put May River back on top in the 10th minute and Jacob Madeiros tacked on a goal before halftime for a 3-1 advantage.
Freshman Alonzo Peña scored midway through the second half, and Jakii Morrow scored two late goals to seal the victory.
May River (9-5, 6-4) finished third in Region 7-4A and should be in line for one of two at-large bids from the Lower State in the Class 4A playoffs. The Eagles finish their season with a 5-9 overall mark and a 3-7 region record.
