Haley Bootle threw a stellar complete-game two-hit gem, and Weslin Jones crushed a game-ending grand slam to give Colleton Prep softball an 11-1 run-rule victory Tuesday over visiting Hilton Head High.
The Seahawks opened the scoring in the first inning with a Leah Jackson two-out RBI single, but CPA quickly answered with two runs in the bottom half highlighted by a Jones steal of home. It was all War Hawks from then on, as Colleton Prep plated three in the second inning before erupting for six more in the fifth capped off by Jones’ magical grand slam to clinch the 11-1 win.
The leadoff hitter delivered a memorable day on her home field, going 2-for-3 with the exclamation-mark blast. Taylor Tomedolskey was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI, and Rianna Bailey collected two hits including a double.
Bootle delivered on offense and in the circle, throwing a sensational two-hitter over five innings with 10 strikeouts while going 1-for-2 and driving in a run. Jackson led Hilton Head High, finishing 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Colleton Prep (10-2, 4-0) finishes off the two-game homestand and regular season Wednesday against James Island.
Hilton Head High (2-14, 0-10) returns home to host Battery Creek on Thursday.
