HS SB: Chisolm leads charge as Cougars crush Cobras

Makayla Chisolm drove in five runs, and Colleton County softball surged to a 12-3 road rout of Cane Bay on Friday.

The infielder was unstoppable, opening the scoring with a two-run double to left field in the first inning before replicating the feat in the third to put her team up 4-0. The Cougars weren’t done in the frame, as Maggie Kennedy drove in Chisolm with a single and an RBI groundout stretched the lead to 6-0.

Cane Bay found the scoreboard with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth, but Colleton County came right back in the next inning, scoring six unanswered runs in the final two frames including a Bailey Cox inside-the-park home run.

Chisolm put together a tremendous day at the plate to lead the offense, going 3-for-4 with a whopping five RBIs. Whitley Weathers excelled on the mound and at the plate, pitching a complete game with no earned runs to go with four strikeouts while putting together a 3-for-5 day with a double at the dish.

Colleton County (9-0, 6-0) hosts May River in a battle for Region 7-4A supremacy on Monday.
