Hilton Head Christian Academy baseball rallied from a four-run deficit for a road win Thursday, erupting for two big innings to claim a 9-6 victory over Coastal Homeschool.
The Hurricanes plated four runs in the third inning to seemingly take control, but the Eagles quickly answered with a six-run fourth and tacked on three more in the sixth.
“I’m proud of how we battled back and beat a good team,” HHCA coach Matt Smith said. “The boys keep showing up and working hard. It’s been awesome to see our improvement.”
Ben Eddy earned the win in relief with three solid innings, allowing two runs (one earned) and two hits with two strikeouts and one walk, and Walker Mikkelson worked a scoreless seventh with one walk for the save.
Jace Blackshear was on base three times for the Eagles with an RBI double and two walks, and Jackson Lanier and Wells Sharp delivered run-scoring singles for HHCA.
HHCA (5-9) returns to action April 19 at Thomas Heyward Academy.
