HS BSOC: Bobcats come up short in epic shootout with Trojans

Bluffton boys soccer went toe to toe with region power James Island on Friday before losing a marathon penalty shootout 11-10 to the visiting Trojans, who remained perfect in Region 7-4A play.

The Trojans converted a corner to open the scoring, but Bluffton’s Edison Alvarez evened the score after earning a penalty when he was tripped in the box.

That’s where it remained until the shootout, which went back and forth seemingly with no end until the Trojans finally broke the deadlock.

Marvin Rodriguez made three saves in regulation for the Bobcats, who had 13 shots but only put three on frame.

Bluffton (3-3, 1-3) hosts Lucy Beckham for another region matchup Tuesday.
