HS BSB: Smoak, Hooker power War Hawks past BA

Colleton Prep’s Carter Smoak struck out 10 and smacked three of the War Hawks’ nine hits, and Kyle Hooker homered and drove in five to lead the charge in a 14-3 win at Beaufort Academy on Monday. 

Smoak allowed just three unearned runs on five hits with 10 punchouts and five walks in a five-inning complete game and contributed to the damage done at the dish with a 3-for-4 day and an RBI.

Hooker was 2-for-3 with a three-run blast in the fourth, finishing with five RBIs, and Drew Murdaugh went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs for CPA. Pete Peters and Colton Daniels each added RBI doubles. 

Riley Thomson was 2-for-3 for the Eagles, while Walker Day, Braydon Dineen, and John Asher Howell each added a hit. 

CPA (8-6, 6-1) plays a non-region game against rival Dorchester Academy on Wednesday before resuming region play Thursday at Thomas Heyward.

BA takes on Hilton Head Christian Academy on Thursday.
