HS BTEN: Seahawks bounce back with region win over Sharks

Hilton Head High boys tennis bounced back from its first loss of the season to beat Region 7-4A rival May River 5-1 on the road Thursday.

Evan Phillips won a tough No. 1 singles match with Liam Beckler to give the Seahawks one of their four singles victories, while Alex Ruckno, Grant Pagatpatan, and Moses Grant also earned singles wins. Stefan Russell and Sam Cavanaugh teamed up to give HHIHS a victory at No. 2 doubles.

Said Hernandez picked up the Sharks’ only victory at No. 2 singles.

HHIHS (3-1, 3-1) travels to Lucy Beckham for a region matchup Monday.

May River (1-3, 1-3) is back in action Friday, traveling to crosstown rival Bluffton.
