HS BLAX: Sharks turn tables on Trojans in rematch

May River boys lacrosse improved its region standing after avenging a loss to James Island earlier this month with an impressive 16-8 home win over the Trojans on Thursday.

Sophomore Brooks Van Esselstyn led the Sharks on offense, scoring six goals to go with one assist and five groundballs to lead May River. Rob Gadomski, Reece Simonson, and Hudson Kramer also contributed a hat trick for the Sharks, and Whitt Beebe scored one goal. Gadomski also dished out an assist. Jacob Bollinger led May River with six groundballs, and Simonson and Rett Harrell each gathered four.

May River’s Hayden Borth and Corbin Wiltse split time at keeper with Borth saving three shots and Wiltse saving six.

Hudson Seabrook led James Island offensively with three goals, meanwhile Camp Hagood fielded 14 groundballs and won 20 faceoffs for the Trojans.

May River (9-2)(6-1) will travel to Savannah to face local power Benedictine on Saturday.
