Bluffton girls soccer peppered 26 shots Tuesday night, but the Bobcats could only get one past standout Beaufort High keeper Quinn Wilson. One was all they needed.
Kayleigh Washington broke through for the game’s only goal, spoiling Wilson’s phenomenal performance, and the Bobcats used a tremendous defensive showing to keep a dangerous Eagles team at bay for a 1-0 victory to open Region 7-4A play.
Bluffton’s stifling midfield and back line held the Eagles to just one shot on goal, as keepers Fiorella Munguia-Bautista and Chapelyn Terodemos combined for the shutout.
The Bobcats (2-0, 1-0) host Hilton Head High in a key region matchup Friday.
The Eagles (1-2, 0-1) travel to James Island for a region contest Tuesday.
