Beaufort High girls lacrosse picked up a key road win Thursday, winning 13-9 at james Island.
The Eagles jumped out to an early lead on the first of Annabelle Hooper’s five goals and never trailed, leading 7-6 at halftime before locking down on defense in the second half.
Five different players scored for Beaufort, with Sophia Pellegrino and Amyah Todd each scoring a hat trick to supplement Hooper’s quintet. Abby Baise and Lillian Carr each added one goal.
Seniors Lilly Dangerfield and Sydney Lashley anchored the Eagles’ defense, which made key adjustments and halftime and held the Trojans to three goals after the break. Morgan Wright earned the win in goal with 10 saves against 18 shots, and Shelby Holstein came in and sealed the win with two saves on three shots.
The Eagles (4-2) are off to the best start in program history going into a home match against May River at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Beaufort won the first matchup 11-9 at May River on Feb. 25.
