Propelled by Quillan White’s second-inning grand slam and a 13-run fourth inning, Thomas Heyward baseball picked up its third straight win Thursday, winning 21-10 at Beaufort Academy.
The Rebels scored six in the second after falling behind 2-0, then answered a five-run BA third with 13 in the fourth to end it early.
White was 3-for-4 with four runs and six RBIs, most of them coming on his first career home run, a bases-loaded blast that provided an emotional boost for THA. White recently lost his grandfather, David, and the sophomore only recently rejoined the team.
Peyton Bennett also had a big night in the leadoff spot, going 3-for-4 with a double, three runs, and five RBIs while swiping two bags. Jeremy Clemmer drove in four runs for THA.
Five THA pitchers combined on a three-hitter but issued 10 walks and hit a batter. Zane Wilson picked up the win, allowing three runs (one earned) in one inning of relief, and Clemmer closed it out with a scoreless frame.
Braydon Dineen was 1-for-3 with two RBIs to lead BA at the plate.
THA (3-3, 2-1) travels to Colleton Prep for a key region game Tuesday.
BA (1-2) travels to Colleton Prep on Wednesday.
