HS BLAX: Bobcats start hot, hold off Eagles for first win

Bluffton boys lacrosse picked up its first win of the season Thursday, riding a terrific start to a 9-6 road victory over region rival Beaufort High. 

The Bobcats raced out to a 5-1 lead after the opening quarter and grew the advantage to 8-2 at halftime. Beaufort came out strong in the second half, scoring four unanswered goals including two from Todd Youngdahl to cut the deficit to 8-6 to set up a dramatic finish. 

The Bobcats halted the run to make it a three-score game before running out the clock and clinching the victory.

Jackson Skinner paced the Bobcat attack, netting four goals and adding two assists for a team-high six points while Ben Ramsey and Carlo Pulido racked up a pair of goals and assists each. 

Connor Ross picked up four ground balls, Pulido led the way in the circle with seven draw controls on 12 attempts, and Jackson Reese delivered a strong performance in net for Bluffton, making 12 saves. 

Youngdahl and Luke Krieger each found the back of the net twice for Beaufort, and Zach Jindrich recorded 13 saves in goal. 

Bluffton (1-3, 1-1) visits Lucy Beckham on Monday.

Beaufort (0-3, 0-3) travels to Hilton Head High on Monday.
