Hilton Head High girls lacrosse captured its first regular-season win of the year with an 11-7 victory at James Island on Monday night.
The Seahawks jumped out to an early lead on goals from Sharon Urbina and Brooke Simons, but the Trojans were able to fight back and even the score at 2 going into halftime.
The Seahawks wasted no time on the offensive front in the second half with Simons and Sofia Cavano notching two goals within the opening minutes to make the score 4-2.
James Island continued to fight back, scoring three goals to put the Trojans up 5-4 in the second half. Hilton Head High responded instantly, as Anna Ferebee scored three straight goals to put the Seahawks back in the lead.
Following Ferebee’s outstanding offense performance, Urbina, Bailey Olive, and Ella Christie added an additional goal apiece. Ferebee led a balanced attack with three goals, while Simons and Urbina collected two goals each.
Ferebee and Christie notched two assists each while Olive, Simons and Urbina each added one assist. Mae Williams anchored the defense and came up with eight ground balls.
The Seahawks (1-1) will host May River at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
