Bluffton girls lacrosse pounced on rival May River on Monday, picking up a 16-5 victory at the Shark Tank for a big Region 7-4A victory.
May River took an early 2-0 lead as the Bobcats struggled to find the mark with their shots, but Bluffton outscored the Sharks 7-2 for the remainder of the first half, then dominated the second half, putting up nine goals while limiting the Sharks to one.
Sophie Chambella led the offensive outburst for Bluffton with seven goals, while Talia Vaught and Zoe Paulmeier added four apiece. Rachel Nix notched her first career goal, and Savannah Kramer won 12 draws and 17 groundballs.
Brilee Larson was strong between the pipes for Bluffton, recording seven saves on 12 shots.
The Bobcats (2-1) will look for another big region win when they host Beaufort High at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The Sharks (0-3) look to secure their first win of the season when they visit Hilton Head High at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
