The Statesboro senior has done it again. For the second time this season and the third in her career, Iyana McKeever was named the Sun Conference Field Athlete of the Week after winning two medals at the Embry-Riddle First Chance Last Chance Meet on Saturday in Daytona Beach.
McKeever’s 11.95m triumph in the women’s triple jump took down the runner-up by 0.4m, qualifying the senior for the NAIA National Championships in the event. The standout also shined in the women’s long jump, making a leap of 5.54m to take the silver medal.

The Sand Sharks also cleaned up on the track, earning a trio of first-place finishes. Shamar Deacon continued his tremendous season, taking gold in the men’s 600m with a time of 1:21.24 and besting the NAIA Championship standard.
UCSB’s relay team of Mel Obadiah Jr., Sam Williams, Christian Austin, and Deacon scored a pair of victories, taking the 4x800m relay with a blazing 8:06.88 and winning the 4x400m in a 3:22.23, nearly three seconds faster than the second-place group.
USCB will now prepare for the NAIA Indoor National Championships, which will be held from March 4-6 in Brookings, S.D.
