HS GLAX: Eagles open with resounding win over South Effingham

Beaufort High girls lacrosse got the job done in its season opener Monday, defeating South Effingham 14-5 at home.

Amyah Todd led the victorious Eagles with five goals on seven shots while picking up 13 ground balls. Annabelle Hooper delivered a breakout performance, scoring four goals on five shots and recovering three ground balls.

Holland Perryman and Sophia Pellegrino netted two goals apiece, and Abbie Baise added one. The Eagles controlled the draws all night long, winning 19-of-21 on the strength of a perfect nine-for-nine from sophomore Neveah Wiggins.

Shelby Holstein made a pair of saves in net, and Morgan Wright recorded one.

Beaufort (1-0) travels to May River on Thursday for its first road contest of the season.
