Hilton Head High’s girls survived a fight to the finish in their regular-season finale Wednesday, as Lynda Young scored the winning basket with four seconds left to give the Seahawks a 37-35 win at James Island.
Young and Janiya Ferebee each scored 12 points to lead the Seahawks, who trailed 18-14 at halftime but pulled even at 26 heading to the fourth. That’s when Young took over, scoring half of her point total in the final period, including the game-winner, giving the Seahawks their first victory since Jan. 5.
James Island’s Andrea Duncan scored 17 points, and Brooke Lamar added 11.
HHIHS (3-7, 2-3) will be the No. 4 seed in the Region 7-4a tournament, hosting a rematch against the No. 5 seed Trojans on Friday.
