Jumping out of an 18-6 lead in the first quarter, HHCA started to light up the scoreboard to extend the margin to 32-14 before halftime.
BA’s Eagles couldn’t handle HHCA’s strength in the paint, as Dior Shelton and Abby Peduzzi were the leaders inside, while guards Devon Yarde and Molly Smith controlled the tempo of the game and made things happen all around the court. Shelton led the team with 22 points, Peduzzi added 10, Skyler Smith had eight points and seven assists, and Yarde and Kenzie Buchter contributed seven points apiece.
Mike’Ala Washington led BA with 14 points, Shanese Bostick added five, and Tahleea Heyward had four.
HHCA coach Kenny Conroy said “a statement was made” that puts his team “in a whole class by themselves,” and it’s hard to argue as they roll toward a third straight SCISA Class 2A title.
HHCA (16-1, 6-0) will host a rematch with BA (9-6, 4-1) on Saturday at the Island Rec Center.
