Hilton Head Christian Academy’s girls tried to start off their bid for a third consecutive SCISA 2A title with a challenging test at home, but it didn’t turn out that way.
The Eagles blasted Pinewood Christian, last year’s GISA 3A state runner-up, 70-9 to tip off their season Monday.
Abby Peduzzi poured in 25 points and Skylar Smith added 17 to lead the way for the Eagles, who raced out to a 44-9 halftime lead.
Devon Yarde chipped in eight points, and Mary Yanker and Mikayla Kelca each had seven for HHCA.
The Eagles (1-0) host Calvary Day at 7 p.m. Monday.
