Hilton Head Christian Academy dominated the second half to put away a pesky Pinewood Prep team for a 34-14 road win and remain undefeated Friday.
Jace Blackshear took charge of the offense for the Eagles, rushing for three touchdowns and throwing TD passes to JP Peduzzi and Cameron Strickland.
Jackson Lanier had two interceptions to lead the Eagles’ defense, which shut out the Panthers in the second half after leading 21-14 at halftime.
The Panthers took an early 7-0 lead before Blackshear bolted away for a 60-yard TD to tie it and added a 2-yard TD after Lanier’s first interception gave the Eagles a short field. Blackshear added a 30-yard TD pass to Strickland to make it 21-7, but the Panthers answered with a score to get within seven at halftime.
Blackshear hooked up with Peduzzi for a long gain to set up his third rushing touchdown of the night, an 11-yard scamper that made it 27-14 late in the third quarter. The duo connected again for a 60-yard TD early in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
The Eagles (5-0, 2-0) travel to Bethesda Academy for a non-region game next Friday.
