Battery Creek 45, Academic Magnet 7: The Dolphins started the Terrance Ashe era in style with a rout of the visiting Raptors. Battery Creek is 1-0 for the first time since 2014.
Colleton County 28, Bluffton 7: The Cougars shut out the Bobcats in the first half and pulled away for a big Region 7-4A win.
Whale Branch 33, St. John’s 0: The Warriors made a loud entrance in Region 6-1A, running all over last year’s region runner-up to roll out their new artificial turf field.
May River 28, James Island 7: Ahmad Green scored three TDs, and the Sharks’ defense held onto a shutout until late in the fourth quarter in an impressive debut in Class 4A.
Bethesda Academy 40, Hilton Head Prep 15: The Dolphins’ defense was overmatched against Antjuan McKay and the Blazers’ high-octane attack.
Thomas Heyward 16, Beaufort Academy 14: Bruzza Pusha scored a late touchdown and two-point conversion to lift the Rebels to a hard-fought win on the road, extending THA’s winning streak to four games and ending BA’s three-game streak.
Hilton Head Christian Academy 45, Colleton Prep 20: JP Peduzzi broke the HHCA records for total touchdowns and points scored, and the Eagles rolled up a 38-0 halftime lead and cruised to an easy win to stay undefeated.
