Eric Eastham took a no-hitter into the fifth and Nate Hoyt was 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead Bluffton baseball to a 10-1 win over visiting John Paul II on Wednesday.
Eastham struck out four, walked two, and allowed one run and one hit over 4 1/3 innings to earn the win. He didn’t give up a hit until Tripp Courier singled on a sharp grounder up the middle with one out in the fifth. By that point, a heavy rain was falling, and the game was called after 4 1/2 innings.
The Bobcats plated a single run in the first, two in the second, and two in the third to take control before blowing it open with a five-run fourth.
Preston Burnside had two hits and scored twice for the Bobcats, and Rakim White was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Grant Musselman had a hit and an RBI, and Carson Yeager’s double was the only extra-bast hit of the game.
Courier and Austin McIntosh had the only hits for JPII, and Colin Doering drove in the Golden Warriors’ only run.
