HSGBB: Golden Warriors sharp in state tourney opener

John Paul II’s girls were in top form Saturday, rolling to a 48-21 win over The King’s Academy in the first round of the SCISA 2A state tournament at Porter-Gaud.

The Golden Warriors displayed great ball movement and locked down on defense, and Tkai Devore led a balanced offense, nearly posting a triple-double with 11 points, eight assists, and 12 rebounds.

Jasmine Hamilton added 10 points and four rebounds, Bella Termini had 10 points and three steals, and Abby Quinty contributed eight points and two blocks. 

JPII (22-4) faces top-seeded Palmetto Christian in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson Hall.
