HSGBB: Eagles grind out win over Seahawks

Beaufort High’s girls lifted their grieving coach’s spirits with a 42-38 homecoming win over region rival Hilton Head High on Friday.

Layla Warren scored 13 points and Sequioa Smalls added 11 to lead the Eagles to big region win without head coach Reggie Jones, who is away with the team due to a death in his family.

Both teams played a tough game at both ends of the floor, but Warren and Smalls were able to hit some key shots to lift the Eagles.

Miley Ray and Kenzie Ryan scored 13 points apiece to lead the Seahawks, but HHIHS couldn’t keep the Eagles off the boards and struggled at the foul line, going 10-for-30.
