HSGBB: Bobcats hold off Seahawks in defensive struggle

Bluffton’s girls eked out a 30-24 win over a scrappy Hilton Head High team in a defensive battle Tuesday.

After trailing for much of the game, the Seahawks took the lead midway through the fourth quarter but couldn’t hold on down the stretch.

Hilton Head High’s Miley Ray scored a game-high 11 points, as the Seahawks limited Bobcat stars Tatyana Aiken (8) and Tacoya Heyward (7) to single digits with a similar defensive gameplan to the one May River deployed to beat the Bobcats on Saturday.

“Obviously we’re disappointed in losing the game, but I’m very pleased with how our team executed our gameplan,” HHIHS coach Sean Rochester. “We played our style and limited their two main offensive threats. One win doesn’t get you a region championship, and one loss doesn’t eliminate you. All that matters right now is finding a way to win on Friday at Beaufort.”
