HS Tennis: Eagles outlast Bobcats

A short-handed Beaufort High girls tennis team held off a strong challenge from Bluffton to claim a 4-3 win in Region 7-4A play.

The Eagles were without top singles player Sophie McMullen due to illness, but they were able to claim three of the five singles courts, including a three-set victory from Juliana Lane at No. 5 that forced the match to No. 1 doubles.

Caroline Louw and Lucy Aydlette teamed up to beat Phelan O’Keefe and Lydia John in the deciding doubles match.

Both teams continue region play Thursday, as Beaufort hosts Hilton Head High and Bluffton (3-4, 1-3) travels to Colleton County.
