Bluffton went toe-to-toe with Class 4A No. 6 Hartsville for the first half Friday, but the Red Foxes pulled away for a 56-21 win over the visiting Bobcats.
Lee Kirkland threw three touchdown passes in the first half, and game was tied at 21 before a Hartsville touchdown made it 28-21 at halftime.
Kirkland hit White for a 65-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring, but the Red Foxes scored 21 consecutive points to take control. Bluffton punched back, as Jordan Murray took a screen pass from Kirkland and went 80 yards for a score, and Kylan Simmons scored on a 20-yard screen, followed by a two-point conversion pass from Kirkland to White, to pull the Bobcats even at 21.
The Red Foxes reclaimed the lead before halftime and pulled away after the break, as Bluffton’s offense was stalled by penalties and a stout Hartsville defense.
The Bobcats (1-3) continue their challenging non-region schedule when they host Class 5A No. 7 Sumter next Friday.
