May River faced its most resistance so far this season, but the Sharks were able to wear down visiting Colleton County and stay undefeated with a 31-6 win Friday.
The Cougars were able to at least slow down May River’s offense for much of the first half, as the Sharks’ lead was just 17-6 at halftime. Joseph Tapscott opened the scoring with a touchdown pass to Andrew Mersberger, and Bryce Summers added a field goal to make it 10-0.
It was 10-6 just before halftime until Donovan Ling’s 15-yard touchdown run extended the Sharks’ lead going into the break. Ling and Ahmad Green each added a rushing touchdown in the second half, and May River’s defense shut out the Cougars the rest of the way.
May River (3-0) travels to Burke next Friday.
