HSFB: Big 4th Quarter Seals HHCA Win

Hilton Head Christian Academy earned its first win of the season Saturday, pulling away in the fourth quarter of a 42-21 home victory over Memorial Day.

Hayden Shinn passed for 303 yards and four touchdowns and added a team-high 63 yards and a score on the ground to lead the Eagles. 

Jace Blackshear caught seven passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns, and JP Peduzzi added seven catches for 107 yards and two scores, and Jackson Lanier rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown on five carries.

Memorial Day pulled within 16-13 early in the second quarter, but Shinn and Blackshear connected for a 19-yard touchdown to make it 22-13 at the half. The Eagles then broke it open in the fourth quarter, as Shinn hit Peduzzi for a 35-yard TD and Lanier added a 15-yard scoring run to make it 34-13. 

The Matadors pulled within 34-21 with 8:49 left, but Shinn threw a 35-yard TD pass to Blackshear and hit Peduzzi for the two-point conversion to cap a five-play, 60-yard drive and seal the win.

The Eagles (1-1) travel to The King’s Academy next Friday.
