Thomas Heyward opened its baseball season with an 8-7 win over St. Andrew’s on Monday in the Island Invitational at Hilton Head High.
The Rebels scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to rally for the victory. Fulton Wade picked up the win on the mound, while Louie Smith earned the save and had three hits. Peyton Bennett also had three hits, and Johnny Brendlen scored the winning run.
The Rebels (1-0) take on the host Seahawks at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
