Ten area teams have earned spots in
Hilton Head High’s girls will begin the season ranked first in Class 4A after claiming their fifth state title in eight years last season, and Beaufort Academy’s five-time defending champion boys are ranked first in the combined SCISA 2A/1A poll.
Defending SCISA 2A boys champion Hilton Head Christian Academy was tabbed second in SCISA 2A/1A, while May River’s boys were picked third in Class 3A and Hilton Head Prep’s girls were ranked third in SCISA 2A.
Three teams were ranked fifth — Hilton Head High’s boys in Class 4A, John Paul II’s boys in SCISA 2A, and JPII’s girls in SCISA 2A — and May River’s girls were picked sixth in Class 3A and Beaufort High’s girls are 10th in Class 4A.
SCHSL teams can play their first scrimmage on Feb. 4 and begin preseason tournaments Feb. 15 and regular-season contests Feb. 25. SCISA teams may begin play Feb. 11.
