Whale Branch’s boys were the only local team to win in the first round of the Bobcat Classic on Thursday at Bluffton High School.
The Warriors knocked off host Bluffton 46-43 behind 14 points from Jaquan Watson, 10 from Shawn Chisolm, and nine from Nick Pringle. Ramell Rivers scored 12 and Donovan Raines had 10 for the Bobcats.
Whale Branch faces South Point (N.C.) in the semifinals Friday, while Bluffton takes on Lowcountry Leadership in the consolation bracket.
Beaufort High lost its first-round game 57-41 to Boiling Springs. Trae Heyward scored nine points, Oliver Holmes had eight, and Josh Aiken added seven for the Eagles, who face Woodland on Friday.
