High-level high school hoops hits Hilton Head Island for three days starting this afternoon when the 32nd annual Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort Seahawk Holiday Classic tips off at Hilton Head High.
Some of the event’s notable alumni include NBA players Steph Curry and Trevor Booker and NFL star AJ Green. This year’s field includes eight boys and eight girls teams from eight states.
The Calhoun School (Ala.) is one of the favorites in the boys bracket. Let by point guard J.D. Davison, who has offers from numerous NCAA Division I programs including Alabama, Auburn, and UNLV, the Tigers are off to a 10-2 start after going 17-8 a year ago.
The girls bracket features several teams ranked in the top 10 in their state polls, including South Carolina power Dorman, Westview (Tenn.), Cumberland County (Tenn.), and John A. Ferguson (Fla.).
The host Seahawks will be in action Friday night with the girls facing Polk County (Tenn.) at 7;30 p.m. and the boys taking on University (Tenn.) at 9 p.m.
Tickets are $8 per day or $20 for a three-day tournament pass.
