HSBB: JPII Boys Hold Off War Hawks’ Charge

John Paul II’s boys held on for a 63-54 win over Colleton Prep in the first round of the JPII Tournament on Wednesday.

The Golden Warriors led by as many as 15 points, but the War Hawks charged back and tied the game with three minutes left. JPII sealed it at the foul line, going 10-of-12 in the fourth quarter.

Melik Frost led a balanced JPII attack with 11 points, four steals, and four assists. Zach Doe collected 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Derek Medina and Reco Anderson added 10 points each.

JPII (1-1) plays First Presbyterian Christian in the championship game at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
