Hilton Head High’s boys used a big third quarter to break open a close game and claim a 55-43 season-opening win over visiting Whale Branch on Tuesday.
The Seahawks trailed 19-18 at halftime before outscoring the Warriors 16-4 in the third quarter.
Davis Molloy scored 22 points, Gaston Moore added 14, and Sam Rougeux had eight for the Seahawks.
Shawn Chisolm scored 16 points and Shemar Williams added eight for the Warriors.
HHIHS (1-0) hosts May River on Friday. Whale Branch (0-1) travels to Ridgeland-Hardeeville on Friday.
