May River finished its second season of competition with a runner-up finish at the Class 3A boys golf state tournament played Monday and Tuesday at Cross Creek Plantation in Seneca.
The Sharks were just two shots behind leader Bishop England after shooting 326 in Monday’s first round, but the Bishops carded a 318 in the final round to finish at 642 and pull away for a 12-shot win. May River (654) was second, followed by Woodruff (658).
Drew Weary led the Sharks with a second-place individual finish, shooting rounds of 74 and 77 to finish nine shots behind champion Jacob Bridgeman (71-71—142) of Chapman. May River’s Brandon McBride (76-78—154) tied for fourth.
Bluffton’s Ricky Weathers (83-80—163) tied for 16th.
