May River kept its season alive with an 11-5 win over visiting Waccamaw in the Class 3A district tournament Monday.
The Sharks scored three runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to break open a tied game and advance to the district championship game Wednesday at Gilbert.
Kylee Gleason was 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, and three runs, and Olivia Turpin was 2-for-3 with a double, a tie-breaking homer in the fifth, two RBIs, and three runs to lead May River at the plate. Hayley Welsch went 3-for-4 with an RBI, Hannah Manley was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Gabby Ximenez was 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored twice.
Ximenez threw a complete game for the win, allowing five runs (one earned) and five hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
The Sharks (14-12) will have to win twice at Gilbert on Wednesday to advance to the Lower State tournament. The Indians beat May River 14-7 on Saturday.
