Ryan Dailey’s goal in the final minute of regulation lifted Hilton Head Prep’s girls to a 4-3 win over rival Hilton Head Christian Academy on Wednesday.
The Dolphins led 2-0 at halftime on Mackenzie Joyner’s blast from the 18-yard line and Charlotte Covington’s goal off an assist from Ashlyn Parsick.
The Eagles scored three straight goals in the second half – two from Sydney Camp and one from Emily Bailey – to take a 3-2 lead, but Covington converted a penalty kick late in regulation to tie it before Dailey lofted a shot into the side netting for the game winner, clinching the region crown for Hilton Head Prep.
The Dolphins (10-4-1, 5-0) play a non-region game at Beaufort Academy at 4 p.m. Thursday. The Eagles (6-6-2, 4-3) travel to St. Andrew’s at 4 p.m. Friday.
