Hilton Head High’s season came to an end with a 3-0 loss to Darlington in the Class 4A district playoffs Thursday.
Matt MeBane had two hits and Cody Wan and Jeff Hays added one apiece for the Seahawks, who managed only four singles. Darlington’s Chase Weatherford and Keyshawn Taylor combined for 12 strikeouts in the shutout.
All the scoring came in the third inning, when Gage Weatherford opened the scoring with an RBI single and Quay Gandy followed with a two-run double later in the inning.
JR Richardson kept the Seahawks in it with a solid effort, allowing three runs and nine hits over seven innings with six strikeouts.
