A late rally sent Beaufort High to a 5-3 loss at Lugoff-Elgin in the second round of the Class 4A district playoffs Thursday.
The Eagles grabbed an early 2-0 lead on Ethan Graham’s two-run single in the first and added an unearned run in the fifth for a three-run advantage.
The Demons rallied in the fifth, loading the bases before two hit batters forced home runs and a sacrifice fly tied it at 3. Justin Dorton’s two-run single in the sixth broke the tie, and the Eagles left two runners on base in the seventh.
Beaufort will host Myrtle Beach in an elimination game Saturday with the winner needing to beat Lugoff-Elgin twice Monday to claim the district title.
