Griffin Yeager had a huge night at the plate and Noah Simonsen threw a five-inning shutout as Bluffton opened the Class 3A playoffs with a 10-0 win over Manning on Tuesday.
Yeager went 3-for-3 with a grand slam and six RBIs to lead the Bobcats’ 14-hit attack. Sean Sutay was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs, Hunter Eldridge and Joe DiCarlo added two hits apiece, and Lukas Pulice had a two-run double for Bluffton.
Simonsen struck out eight and scattered six hits – all singles – in a strong performance on the mound.
The Bobcats will travel to Strom Thurmond, a 12-2 winner over Lake City, on Thursday in the second round of the double-elimination District V tournament.
