HS Soccer: Sharks Shut Out HHCA For 11th Straight Win

Chris Pineda and Mikey Chappelear broke through in the second half to lift May River’s boys to a 2-0 home win over Hilton Head Christian Academy on Thursday.

HHCA’s Lukas O’Grady made nine of his 13 saves in the first half to maintain a scoreless tie, but the Sharks scored in the 45th minute when Pineda finished an assist from Chris Hernandez. Alan Gonzalez assisted on Chappelear’s goal in the 75th minute to cap the scoring.

May River’s defense contained a strong HHCA attack, as Tony Rodriguez needed only three saves to preserve the shutout.

The Sharks (15-1) take an 11-game winning streak into a region match at home against Ridgeland-Hardeeville at 7:15 p.m. Friday. HHCA (4-3-1) is off until hosting John Paul II on April 16 at 6 p.m.
