HS Baseball: Dolphins Take Two From Warriors

Battery Creek swept a home-and-home series with Whale Branch this week, winning 26-10 on the road Tuesday and 10-0 at home Thursday.

The Dolphins scored eight runs in the sixth and eight more in the seventh to break open a tied game in Tuesday’s matchup.

Cody Lanning (3-for-3, 4 runs, 5 RBIs), Jacob Rye (3-for-6, 4 runs, RBI), Jonathan Gordon (1-for-4, 3 RBIs), and Trent Thompson (2-for-5, 4 runs, 2 RBIs) led the Dolphins at the plate.

De’Arius Hazel (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) and Jaren Cantorn (1-for-2, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) led the Warriors’ offense.

On Thursday, Tyler Hofmann struck out nine and allowed four hits and one walk in a five-inning shutout for the Dolphins.

Cody Lanning was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, Jonathan Gordon was 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs, and Emanuel Burke drove in two runs to lead the offense.

The Dolphins (4-6) are off until April 16, when they travel to Bluffton at 7 p.m. for the first game of a three-game region series. The Warriors (3-5) travel to Burke for a region game at 6 p.m. on April 16.
