HS Tennis: Seahawks Claim Close Matches To Beat Dolphins

Hilton Head High’s boys won two tiebreakers to claim a 5-1 win over Hilton Head Prep in a showdown of cross-island rivals Monday.

Alex Ruckno (No. 4) and Alex Ittenbach (No. 5) won hard-fought three-set matches to lift the Seahawks to the win. Vanderbilt signee Marcus Ferreira gave the Dolphins their only victory at No. 1 singles.

Hilton Head High (10-1) hosts Hilton Head Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Hilton Head Prep (6-2) travels to Bluffton at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

No. 2: Davis Phillips (HHH) def. Justin Perez 6-1, 6-3

No. 3: Cooper Steinour (HHH) def. Evan Hryckiewicz 7-6, 6-2

No. 5: Alex Ittenbach (HHH) def. Thor Pullon 3-6, 6-1 (11-9)


No. 2: Mario Magnan/Nate Anderson (HHH) def. Max Marko/Jack Barney 6-2, 6-0
